Belthangadi, February 9: Charmadi Ghat road has been closed again. For next three months no vehicles can pass through Charmadi Ghat. Even before this the Charmadi was closed but the movement of the vehicles was unchecked. The contractors have decided to construct barriers. Barricades were constructed before this. Entrance was open to those who gave tips.

The problem of Charmadi Ghat is prevailing from a long time. The scenery at Charmadi Ghat road is fabulous. There are many tourist spots, which attract the tourists. As we go high the beautiful sceneries of the Ghat section can be viewed.

As the Ghat is completely blocked and work is going to be done there, it will cause problem to vehicle to proceed. Shiradi is the lone way to Chikmagalore, Davangeri, Hasan, Shimoga.

If the barriers are built at the top and bottom of Charmadi Ghat then people living in the forest at middle of the Ghat will be affected. The families living here have to come to Mudigere or Ujire for their day today needs. If the barriers built then the people can not go to either side. If anyone is sick then it’s difficult to provide medical aids. There is an idea of providing medical service once in a week. But for emergency requirements there is no solution with the department.

If the barriers are removed it will affect the work as the vehicles will move in. Totally the problem with Charmadi is not sort out.
