Sullia: In the backdrop of incessant rains in the Western Ghats, a huge boulder is hanging precariously on the verge of falling on to the railway track at Manibanda near Siribagilu on the railway route between Subramanya and Sakleshpur stations. The position of the boulder is such that it may get dislodged at any moment.

In case the boulder dislodges, train movement will be affected severely besides, the trains moving along this route are facing a real threat.

The railway department has planned to remove the boulder by setting off a blast on Saturday July 20. But they have not yet given any indication about the diversion plans for trains or possible suspension of train movement on this stretch if boulder removal turns problematic.

Railway department’s officials of the engineering department have visited the location and are keeping a close watch of the perilously placed rock.
