12 PHCs in Udupi and DK districts to be upgraded

Udupi: The State government has decided to upgrade 250 Primary Health Centres in the State and has selected 12 Centres in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.

Out of a total of 61 Primary Health Centres in the Udupi district, 5 have been selected to be upgraded as health complex.

Upon graduation, there will be two MBBS physicians and one BAMS physician with 24-hour service in the hospital along with a maternity ward.

The upgradation will include a hospital built at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore and a hostel at Rs 2 crore.

Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar has informed that the 250 Primary Health Centres will be developed in the next 5 years.
