Bagalkote: In yet another bank robbery, unidentified persons made away with 12 kg gold ornaments and Rs 5.50 lakh cash, all worth over Rs 2 crore from Veera Pulikeshi Cooperative Bank at Kulageri Cross in Badami taluk on late Thursday night.
The robbers gained access into the bank by breaking open the window grill and door of the strong room using gas cutters at midnight. Later, they dismantled the alarm system in the strong room and turned two CCTV cameras upward. The robbery came to light on Friday morning when the staff came to the bank.
Kerur police rushed to the spot and conducted inquiries. The fingerprint experts and the dog squad were pressed into service.
Footage captured in the surveillance cameras shows four masked men entering the strong room of the bank, the police said.
It is gathered that a robbery had been attempted at the bank in the year 2009 but at that time the robbers had to settle for an empty cash box.
A case stands registered.
