25-year-old student meets watery grave

Mangaluru: A 25-year old student from Madhya Pradesh drowned to death at a beach in Suratkal on Monday, January 20 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Nirmala Dangawal (25), a resident of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh.

Reportedly, as many as 23 students of NIT Warangal, including Nirmala had gone to Suratkal beach after taking part in the sport meet at the NITK Suratkal on Monday evening.

When Nirmala and her two fried Meghana and Kanoj had ventured into the water a huge wave engulfed then and they were pulled into the sea. Though the trio was soon brought to the shore by other students, Nirmala was declared brought dead, while the other two are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A case in this regard has been registered at Suratkal Police Station.
