26-year-old woman raped at knifepoint by a facebook friend

Bengaluru: A 26 year old woman was raped at knife point by a Facebook friend at an isolated Eucalyptus grove. The incident took place in Marthahalli on Monday, January 29.
The woman was abandoned by her husband Manjunath three months ago. She became friends with Manoj Manju on facebook who turned out to be her husband’s friend.
She came across Manoj when she was trying to locate her Husband on social networking site. Manoj promised to help her find her husband. In return, the woman had given Manoj Rs.2000 and a mobile phone.
On Monday, Manoj called the woman to meet him near New Horizon College area in Kadubeenanahalli. He said that he wanted to share some information about her husband. The woman went to meet him. Manoj took her inside a Eucalyptus grove saying the he wanted to show her something there.
Manoj took her inside and raped her at knifepoint. He threatened to kill her if she refused. The woman got home and narrated the incident to her family. She was taken to the hospital before lodging a complaint.
In her complaint, the woman said she later learnt that her husband was the mastermind behind the attack on her. The Marathahalli police have launched a manhunt to capture Manoj and Manjunath, who are absconding.
