28,470 MT of sand extracted from CRZ

Udupi: 28,470 metric tonnes of sand has been extracted from the coastal regulatory zone in the district till now.
The permission for sand mining from CRZ sand blocks was given to 148 people in the district. Registration of 22 more applicants is in progress.
Case booked
Padubidri police received a complaint concerning illegal transport of sand in a vehicle near a house in Inna area, located within station limits. On Oct, 17th, officials from the mines department conducted a raid on the location and seized a lorry as well as the sand. A case has been booked against the accused, informed the officials.
