3 of a family killed in accident

Bareilly (UP): Three members of a family were today killed and seven other passengers injured in a head-on collision involving a state government bus and a lorry here, police said.

The accident occurred near Ahladpur police post on the Delhi-Lucknow Highway in the early hours, SP (City) Abhinandan Singh said.

The bus was going from Delhi to Sitapur when it collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction, he said.

The deceased have been identified as Santosh (35), his wife Shanti Devi (32) and their daughter Julie (7). They belonged to Balrampur village in Sitapur district, he said.

The drivers of both vehicles are absconding.
