60km rule violation: Karnataka at second spot with 19 pairs of toll checkpoints

Surathkal: A list of 181 toll checkpoints violating the 60km rule between 2 two plazas in India has been submitted to the Union of Road Transport and Highways
Earlier, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had announced in Lok Sabha that all toll checkpoints which fall within 60 kilometers of each other on the national highways will be closed within 3 months’ time.
Surprisingly, Karnataka has 19 such toll checkpoints in violation of the rule. This is the second-highest number among all states in India. Uttar Pradesh is at the top spot with 23 pairs.
The notable toll gates in Karnataka featured in the list include – Surathkal-Hejamady toll plaza (11km apart), Kulume Palya-Bengaluru (12 km apart), Talapady-Surathkal (32 km apart), Hejamady Gundmi (49 km apart), Holegadde-Belakeri (49km apart), Sasthan-Shirur (59km apart).
