68 killed by lightning in Rajasthan, UP, MP; PM Modi announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia for kin

As many as 68 people were killed in separate incidents of lightning across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on Sunday.
The death toll in Uttar Pradesh mounted to 41 on Monday while 20 people, including seven children, were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Kota, Jhalawar and Dholpur districts. Seven deaths were reported from Madhya Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the deaths of the people and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to lightning strikes in parts of Rajasthan. The Prime Minister also announced Rs 50,000 from PMNRF for the people who were injured.
