AAI to hand over Mangaluru Intl airport to Adani Enterprises before Nov 12

Mangaluru: Central Government’s plan to privatize the Mangalore International Airport has reached its final stage and will be soon handed over to Adani Group, owned by Gautam Adani

It is said that the process of privatization will be completed before Nov 12. As per the information received through top sources, the control of management will be given to the Adani group either on Oct 24 or Nov 1 onwards.

Although, the airport is being handed over next month, the Airport Authority and Adani will continue the operations jointly for the next couple of years.

It is said that Adani will be looking after the commercial activity on the terminal, and the airport Authority will handle the flight arrival and departure and will also guide the entire system

For the past two months, the top officials of Adani group have been observing the functioning of the airports. The present CEO will be incharge only for the next couple of months as later he will be replaced by the CEO of Adani group

Adani group is likely to invest in the airport after the takeover. The long-awaited runway extension and a new complex similar to New Delhi-Mumbai Airport, will be introduced to Mangalore. The amount of fees charged to passengers, monthly rental of commercial stores inside the terminal is likely to be revised
V.V. Rao, Director, Mangalore Airport, said “The process of handing over of the airport is in its last stage and is likely to be finished before Nov 12. The official transfer date is determined by Adani. We will not be able to disclose the information”
