Absconding ganja peddler nabbed at Uppinangady

Uppinangady: The main accused of a gang of interstate drug peddlers was arrested by Uppinangadi police and there by solved the case case where a huge quantity of ganja was confiscated at Addahole in Shiradi last year.
The arrested absconding ganja peddler has been identified as Moidin Nawaz Alias Nawaz (32), resident of Uppala, Kasargod. He was arrested while he was on his way to visit his wife at Uppinangady.
In December 2017, during a raid near Addahole River in Shiradi Ghat, the police had recovered 81kgs of ganja from a car; however the accused peddler had managed to escape. The accused were coming in a Maharashtra registered car with another person, but on seeing the police from far, they abandoned the car along with the stash and fled. When the police checked the car they found ganga worth Rs. 6.5 lakh stuffed in sic luggage bags. The car and its contents were seized, a case was registered under NDPS and the police were on the lookout for the accused ever since.
The operation to nab the peddler was conducted under the direction of Puttur rural police circle inspector Gopal Naika M. and guidance from SP Dr Ravikante Gowda, additional SP Sajith Kumar and Puttur sub division DySP Srinivas by the police team led by Uppinangadi station sub inspector Nandakumar, staff Shivarama, Dharnappa, Abdul Saleem, Pravin Rai, Irshad P, Jagadish and drivers Raju Poojary Bannur and Narayana Gowda Darbe.
