Action plan for construction of houses prepared: DC

Mangaluru: Action plans have been drawn to distribute sites and construct houses for members of SC/ST communities leading a nomadic lifestyle, informed Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Sasikanth Senthil while chairing a review meeting on Saturday Dec 29th.
The DC said that a taluk-level meeting should be convened to listen to the woes of SC/ST community members in the taluk in the month of January and that he would be attending the meeting, he assured.
Mr Senthil said that it has been proposed to impart skill training to the educated unemployed youth from the community. A special drive will be carried out pertaining to housing and employment.
Tahsildars had been directed to identify government land for sites and houses of the SC/ST community members and the earmarking of the land is in progress, said Assistant Commissioner Ravichandra Nayak.
814 nomadic families have been identified in the district. Measures have been taken up to carry out a survey on education and health standard of the Koraga community members, said Hemalatha, ITDP officer.
