After India’s subtle warning, nine European countries approve Covishield for Green Pass

A day after India subtly warned of a reciprocal policy when it comes to an exemption from quarantine for vaccinated people from EU member states if they do not accept Indian vaccines and vaccination certificates, nine European nations cleared Serum Institute’s Covishield vaccine for travel.

Estonia, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Switzerland and Spain have confirmed that they will accept Covishield for the ‘Green Pass’ required to travel to the countries.

The EU Digital Covid Certificate or ‘Green Pass comes into effect from July 1. According to its framework, persons vaccinated with vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will be exempted from travel restrictions within the EU. Individual member states have the flexibility to also accept vaccines that have been authorised at the national level or by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
