Hubballi: BJP leaders are unanimous in their opinion that the Congress-JD(S) coalition government will not last for more than three months. Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar told presspersons here on Wednesday that the Congress-JD(S) “kichdi sarkar” would not be able to achieve anything, but would only quarrel within themselves about the differences in power sharing. He said that the coalition was just an “unholy alliance” and predicted that it would meet its downfall early.

He pointed out that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who had promised farm loan waiver, was now saying that it would be difficult or rather impossible to achieve. He said that the CM or his government had no concern for farmers. Shettar also said that the sole purpose of the coalition was to come to power and JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda only wanted to make his son the CM. He alleged that they would have their dreams fulfilled but not fulfil the dreams of farmers.

He also said that both the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister were from South Karnataka, sidelining North Karnataka. He felt that it was an indication of more injustice to be meted out to North Karnataka by the coalition government. Shettar also alleged that many Congress MLAs were in touch with the BJP and would also join the party once they came out of their state of captivity.

In Hubballi, there was a mix of celebration and criticism for the formation of the new coalition government. While BJP leaders staged a dharna against the coalition, in front of the party office; Congress members were distributing sweets and bursting crackers at Durgad Bail.
