Ankola: 9 hamlets lose connectivity after makeshift bridge collapses

Ankola: Nine hamlets near here have been disconnected after a bamboo bridge connecting them to the nearby village collapsed due to the heavy rains.

All the hamlets are within the Hattikere gram panchayat limits with a population of more than 400 in each of them.

As the rainy season begins, the stream between the Huttikeri village and the nine hamlets starts to overflow. The residents build a makeshift bamboo bridge across the stream to cross it. However, due to heavy rains, this year the bridge was washed away.

There is a need for 5 bridges for the hamlets and already MLA Rupali Naik has arranged for a grant of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for two projects.

People living in the hamlets have to come to Hattikeri village for all basic needs.
