Mangaluru: The artificial flood at a house in Adyar has been a never-ending problem for this family. The family cannot go out of the house as the family is surrounded by water to a depth of a few feet for more than a month.
The house belongs to Ashok Shetty and Jayanthi Shetty, they now live with a family to which they have rented the upper floor of the house.
Last year, the height of the road was increased and as the house is at a lower gradient than the road, the rain water fills the courtyard.
Also, till last year, the water used to flow away from a steep space located in front of the house at the back.
However, during the summer, the landowner increased the height of his courtyard and now there is no space for the water to flow away.
The owner has inflicted a heavy loss due to the flooding. MLA Y Bharath Shetty has said that the officials have been instructed to take steps to address the issue.
