
Bagalkot: Two held after huge cache of explosives unearthed at farmhouse

Bagalkot: Police on Thursday arrested two persons after huge cache of explosive material was found illegally stored in a farmhouse in Honnakatti village near Bagalkot.
The arrested are identified as Vijay, 30, and Manjunath, 30, both residents of old Bagalkot town. Another accused is on the run and efforts are on to nab him at the earliest.
Based on credible information, the police raided the farmhouse and unearthed around 500 kg of explosives including 250 kg of gunpowder, 150 kg of sodium nitrate, 52 kg of charcoal powder and 50 kg of sulphur that was stored illegally.
Police suspect that these explosives substances were being procured illegally and supplied for quarrying activities. The accused did not possess the license for the supply of explosives.
A case has been registered and an investigation is ongoing.
