Bantwal: 50-yo woman assaulted, robbed by duo posing as electricity company workers

Bantwal: Two people, claiming to be electricity company workers allegedly assaulted and robbed a 50-year-old woman of her gold ornaments after barging into her residence at Addada Beedi near Vittal downtown here.
The victim identified as Bifatumma, wife of Sulaiman is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru for her injuries.
According to the police, Bifatumma was alone at her residence when the duo arrived and enquired about the status of the electricity bill payment. When Bifatumma went inside to fetch the paid receipt, the men barged inside and assaulted her. They then snatched her gold ornaments and fled the scene.
Bifatumma, who sustained injuries to her head, neck and abdomen in the assault managed to come out and cry for help. Police said that the robbers had forced open a cupboard in the residence but details of what else was robbed from the scene is to be ascertained.
Canine squad and fingerprint experts from Mangaluru inspected the scene and an investigation is underway.
