Bantwal flooded; DC visits flood-hit areas

Bantwal: The incessant rain since a few days has led to a spate in Netravathi with the river flowing well above the danger mark, at 9.3 meters. As all the gates of the Shambhoor dam have been opened to release water, several areas have submerged. All the gates of the Tumbay vented dam too have been opened after maintaining the water level at 5 meters.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil visited the flood affected areas of Bantwal taluk and reassured the people that the district administration would lend a helping hand and make alternate arrangements for the affected people on Tuesday, August 14th.
DC instructed officials to open a Ganji Kendra at the Sharada School at Panemangaluru for the flood hit people. He noted that people living in low lying areas at Panemangaluru, Aladka, Nandavara, Sajipamunnur and other places are hit hard and directed officials to initiate precautionary measures.
MLA visits
Bantwal MLA Ulipadiguttu Rajesh Naik visited several areas in Bantwal which have been inundated and took stock of the situation. He also interacted with the locals and assured all possible assistance to the affected people.
