Bantwal: Thieves broke into four houses at Maji village in Thumbe at Bantwal here on Thursday night.

On Thursday, a drama ‘Sivadhootha Guliga’ was being staged near Thumbe here and most of the household members had gone to watch the same.

Taking advantage of this, the thieves broke into four houses in the area and stole Rs 8000 in cash from the residence of Manoj Kottari. They however returned empty-handed from the other three households.

The theft came to light when the residents returned home. A case has been registered at Bantwal rural police station.

Police personnel alongwith fingerprint experts and dog squad visited the spot and began an investigation.
