Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has ordered a ban on animal slaughter on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The civic body had earlier also issued a similar order on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami. The BBMP while issuing this order also restricted the sale and purchase of meat in the state.
Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated annually to mark the birth of Mahatma Gandhi. In the backdrop of the pandemic, most of the events are likely to be low-key or held online.
