BBMP Mayor Asks to Restart Indira Canteen within a of Week its Launch

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Mayor G Padmavathi asked the staff at an Indira canteen located in Subramanya Nagar of Bengaluru to restart the distribution of food to the poor. The canteen was reportedly shut following an order from an official within a week of its launch citing water scarcity.
Following complaints from the general public, Mayor visited the canteen on Tuesday and expressed her dissatisfaction on the move of the official who closed the canteen citing baseless reason. Mayor has also ordered to suspend the official who shut the canteen and created inconvenience to the poor people of the locality.
Speaking on the move of the official, Mayor said, Karnataka state government stared a bunch of Indira canteens with an objective to serve the people from lower strata of the society. However, illogical moves of the officials can cause for the failure of the project in the state capital.
