BBMP sets up units to produce electricity from waste

Bengaluru: The BBMP is planning of generating electricity using waste. The plan is to generate a unit of electricity using 1,000 tonnes of waste.
The BBMP has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two foreign companies to establish the unit to produce electricity from waste.
2 units are under constrution here which will be used to produce electricity from waste. The estimated cost will come up to Rs.50 crore each. It would help the BBMP in managing around 3,000 tonnes of waste.
