Beirut explosion: Video of domestic help risking her life to save child goes viral

It was nothing less than a nightmare for the people of Beirut who witnessed a huge blast at a port there that devastated entire neighborhoods of the city and killed more than 100 people and injured over 4,000 people.

As search and rescue operations are being conducted in surrounding areas, a video of a domestic help saving a child just as the blast occurred, has gone viral on the social media platforms.

In the clip the domestic help was seen cleaning the living room moments ahead of the explosion while the child was busy playing. Soon after, the little girl walked up near the window and stood there as the blast occurred seconds later. The domestic help, without batting an eyelid, picked up the child in her arms and rushed out of the room.

Muhammad Lila, who tweeted the video, wrote, “Everyone is sharing videos of today’s deadly #BeirutBlast. Here’s something else. This is the exact moment a maid risked her own life to save a little child, just as the explosion occurred. Heroes can be anywhere.”
