Belthangady: The mortal remains of a pourakarmika (civic worker) of the Belthangady Panchayat who had been missing since January were found in a decomposed state near the Belthangady government ground on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Linga Shetty (43), a native of K R Nagar in Mysuru. He lived with his family in a rented house in Belthangady. He is survived by his wife and three children.
It is gathered that Linga Shetty had fallen in love with a woman. He had tried to take his own life after his family came to know of the love affair. He was rushed to a hospital and returned home after treatment. Thereafter, Linga Shetty disappeared.
Neither his family nor the panchayat members register his missing complaint.
Belthangady police visited the spot and are conducting further investigations.
