Belthangady: Two youth who allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl have been arrested in Beltangady town on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Ravindra, a driver and Yogesh, a resident of Kokradi. It is said that they had forcefully taken the girl to an isolated place and raped her.

The incident came to light when the girl visited a   Covid vaccination centre and one of the staff became suspicious after looking at the state of the girl.

After the checkup, it was found that the girl was pregnant. She was then asked to visit the Mangaluru hospital and the girl later disclosed about the rape incident.

On September 27, a complaint was registered at the Belthangady police station. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act, IPC 376 (rape by one or more persons) and 34 (criminal act by several persons with the common intention).
