Bengaluru: MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar and many eco-activists want the public consultation by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on the felling of more than 33,000 trees for the Peripheral Ring Road to be done online.
Activists argue that this may not be the right time as COVID-19 cases in the city are increasing every day.
MP Chandrasekhar had also written to the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban district in this regard on August 6 stating that an online public hearing will not have any risk of the spread of the virus.
The KSPCB had set the date of the public consultation on August 18 over the issue of felling of the trees and the acquisition of 25 acres of forest land for the road.
