Puttur: Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has ordered the suspension of Yogesh Kumar, a circle inspector at the SJ Park police station in Bengaluru.
Kumar is alleged to have taken a bribe from a Sub Inspector accused of robbing an areca nut trader.
Kumar was earlier in the Anti Corruption Bureau at Mangaluru and was part of the squad that caught Puttur tehsildar Dr Pradeep Kumar and the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies while accepting a bribe.
Previously he was also a Sub Inspector at the Kadaba police station.
Kumar had allegedly taken Rs 6 lakh as bribe from the Sub Inspector accused in robbing an areca nut trader.
A native of Madikeri, Kumar has studied in a prestigious college here.
According to another source in the police department, Kumar had not taken the bribe money that was brought to him by another police official from the accused Sub Inspector. However, as he had not taken any action against the accused Sub Inspector he has been suspended.
