Bengaluru: Couple cheated of ₹16.7 lakh on pretext of role for son in ads

Bengaluru: A Bengaluru couple was cheated of ₹16.7 lakh by fraudsters on the pretext of getting a role for their minor son in commercials.

The accused have been identified as Dr Rishi Kapoor aka Apurva Ashwin and Janice.

As per the complaint, the accused contacted the father in November 2020, claiming he ran a modelling agency.

The accused then sent an invite through WhatsApp to make short videos and sent it to him for biscuit product advertisement. Later,  they responded that the child has qualified for the test and had been selected for commercials.

Another accused in the case, Janice demanded Rs 1.4 lakh as a registration fee.

In the name of registration charges, photoshoots, clothes, etc, they paid ₹16.7 lakh to the accused.
