Bengaluru: Former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy has been given permission by a civil court in Bengaluru to present his views with regard to the solar scam case on June 1.
Chandy had earlier moved the court to cancel the fine of Rs. 1.61 crores leveled on him and five other persons. This amount was to be refunded to businessman and complainant M.K. Kuruvilla, as part if money he had invested for implementing failed solar energy projects in Kerala.
In 2015, Kuruvilla had filed a complaint in Bengaluru civil court alleging that Scossa Educational Consultants, an education firm, run by Binu Nair-suspected to be Kerala solar scam perpetrator had convinced him to invest over Rs. one crore in solar projects in Kerala.
Kerala had alleged that an official from Chandy’s office exhorted him to invest by promoting subsidies and other incentives.
