Bengaluru: Man falls to death while trying to escape from cops

Bengaluru: A man detained for questioning over his wife’s death jumped from a skywalk near KR Puram, Bengaluru reportedly while he was trying to escape from the police on Monday.
Sakthivelu, a native of Madurai native living in Anandapura, was detained by the police on Saturday after his wife Sangeeta,21, killed herself.
Sangeeta’s parents accused Sakthivelu of torturing her. He was questioned throughout the day on Sunday and around 6.30 am, he asked the police to let him go to the washroom.
A constable took him to the toilet and Sakthivelu escaped from there by jumping the compound wall. He then got into an auto and got off near the ITI factory in Dooravani Nagar. Cops ran behind him failed to nab him.
He then climbed up the skywalk and jumped down 30 feet, Sakthivelu fell on the left side of a Mahindra XUV 500 and died.
A case has been registered.
