Bengaluru: Swiggy food delivery executive Karthik Hariprasad, who was assaulted last month in Bengaluru, donated surplus money from the funds raised for him, to a city-based NGO.
Activist Waseem who helped Karthik raise money to cover damages said, “Karthik received over ₹2.33 lakh. After buying a new phone and paying for his sister’s marriage, he decided to donate nearly ₹70,000.”
Karthik was assaulted by a group of four men for refusing to hand food over for free. The four men reportedly began hurling abuses at the delivery worker and went on to physically assault him, breaking his phone and helmet, snatching money from his wallet and knocking his head with stones.
The four men were caught by the police but an FIR was not registered as they apologized to Karthik and also assured him that they won’t repeat the behaviour.
