Bengaluru: Woman duped of Rs 36 lakh in matrimonial site fraud

Bengaluru: A woman from Bengaluru lodged a police complaint alleging that she was duped of Rs 36 lakh by a man whom she had befriended on a matrimonial site.
The victim has been identified as Yamini Arani, a resident of TC Palya.
It is said that Yamini was in search of a suitable partner and had registered herself on a matrimonial site. A few days later, she received a call from a man who claimed to be interested in her profile and also promised to marry her.
He then said that he will be going to California for some work and is in urgent need of money. He promised to return the money after he reaches California.
Over the next few days, large sums of money was taken from her on various false pretexts. The woman claims that she has transferred around Rs 36 lakh to him.
After realising that she had been cheated, she approached the police station and registered a case.
