Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday blamed Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) of misusing religion for their political gains. However, he did not mention any names while giving the statement.

Siddaramaiah spoke to the media persons on Thursday when he had come to attend the Valedictory function of Suttur Jathra Mahotsava in Mysuru. He said that the congress government will not permit any party to divide the society based on communities and caste and will make sure to take necessary steps to stop such associations who try to sparkle enmity and disturb peace among the people of the state.

Siddaramaiah further said that the opposition parties are trying to use religion and philosophies to benefit the upcoming election poll in their favours. He also advised people not to be influenced by such parties and said that it was inhumane to misuse religion for political benefits. CM also promised the people of Karnataka that he had lived up to their expectations and he had fulfilled all the promises he had made in the year 2013. He also listed out his achievements including the recent distribution of over 1.8 lakh laptops to the students who passed PU.

H.C. Mahadevappa, Minister for Public Works and the district in-charge, said the Congress had provided steady and proficient governance in the past four and a half years. He also said it had fulfilled all the promises and introduced many more schemes for the welfare of the oppressed and weaker sections of society. Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H.K. Patil said that 20 districts have been made open defecation-free and five more would follow suit soon.

Suttur seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami, Sri Siddarama Mahaswami of Naganuru Rudrakshi Mutt, Belagavi, and Sri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Mahaswami of Anandapuram were also present at the ceremony.
