Belagavi: In a press conference here on Wednesday, Belagavi MLA and Congress nominee from Belgavi north Firoze Sait has alleged that BJP leaders were responsible for the video which showed that his supporters were raising anti-national slogans. On Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, some local TV channels and social media platforms had circulated a video clip, where a crowd is seen shouting ‘Azimbhai Patawegar Zindabad’. Mr. Sait claimed that BJP workers had falsely accused that the crowd was chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.
Mr. Sait said that he will file complaints with the Belagavi police, Karnataka Police Cyber Cell and the Election Commission of India in order to nab the culprits. He felt that since the BJP was not doing well in its campaigns in Belagavi, it had resorted to such cheap tricks to ensure the party’s victory.
“Belagavi has remained peaceful in the 10 years that I have been representing it in the Assembly. Some people are not comfortable with this. They are trying to disrupt peace and cause damage. Those who take the name of our enemy nation repeatedly are BJP leaders and not us,” he said.
