A four-year-old child playing on the platform at Baiyappanahalli Metro Station accidentally slipped and fell onto the tracks on Thursday night. The quick response from the security and station control staff, who immediately cut off the power to the tracks, led to the successful rescue of the child.

The incident took place on Thursday at around 9:08 PM when a woman and her two children were waiting for the train to arrive on Platform 2 at Baiyappanahalli Railway Station. The child was playing with his sibling when he wandered close to the tracks and accidentally fell.

Noticing this, the security personnel on the platform immediately alerted the station controllers and pressed the emergency switch thus cutting off the power supply to the tracks. Subsequently, the staff went down to the tracks and rescued the child.

As the child was found to have minor injuries behind his left ear, the Metro staff promptly took him to Sir C.V. Raman Hospital for examination, where no serious injuries were found. However, doctors advised taking the child to Victoria Hospital where a scan was performed.

Since no problems were detected, the child was sent home with his mother. Due to this incident, the metro service was halted from 9:08 PM to 9:15 PM, after which operations resumed as usual, according to BMRCL officials.
