Bengaluru: A man who impersonated an Indian Army lieutenant colonel was arrested from Army Service Corps (ASC) Center in Honnarapet, Vivekanagara.
Nethaichand John (49), a resident of Koramangala was arrested after his army id card was found to be fake.
John, a native of West Bengal, had joined the Indian Army in 1993 but was dismissed from service for being absent without leave. He later shifted to Koramangala in Bengaluru with his family and worked at a private company.
Being an alcohol addict, John used a photograph he took while in the army in the uniform of a Lt Colonel to create a fake ID. He tried to use fake identification to get quality liquor that is available for serving and retired military personnel.
The matter came to light when the army personnel at the ASC center asked for his identification after finding his behavior suspicious. After verifying that the ID was fake, police were called in and John was arrested.
Meanwhile, a complaint has been registered in the Vivekanagara Police station and investigations are underway.
