BMTC to roll out Pink Sarathi vehicles today

Bengaluru: The Pink Sarathi profect of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will be flagged off by Chief minister Kumaraswamy at Vidhana Soudh today.
Under the first phase of the project, 25 Mahindra Bolero vehicles will be deployed across the city to address complaints of women passengers travelling in its buses and ensuring safety .
Each vehicle will have an all-woman crew and will be fitted with GPS and public announcement system units. The Pink sarathis will operate from dawn to dusk.
A sum of Rs 56 crore had been granted to BMTC under the Nirbhaya scheme for various projects aimed to empower women and ensure their safety.
