Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will soon receive 90 mini electric buses by October this year.
BMTC Chairman N S Nandeesha Reddy said, “It will resolve the first and last mile connectivity issue of those taking the Namma Metro. Three electric vehicle charging stations are also being planned at KR Puram, Yelahanka and Rajajinagar.”
The BMTC, Smart City Bengaluru, and National Thermal Power Corporation Limited are launching the buses, with investments of Rs 130 crore in the project. The BMTC is also planning to replace the existing buses with electric ones.
JBM Auto Limited, an automobile manufacturing company, based in Haryana, was supposed to dispatch all the e-buses by June this year. However, the manufacture and supply were disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
