Broad daylight robbery: Thieves decamp with Rs 22 lakh cash, half kg silver

Udupi: In a broad daylight robbery, thieves managed to gain access into a house and make off with Rs 22 lakh in cash and half kg of silver that was kept in various boxes in the kitchen of the house located at Olakadu, 76 Badagabettu on Thursday, September 12.
Apparently, the house belongs to Manikya Patil, a resident of Bhagavathi Kripa, Chatrapathi Shivaji Road, Harishchandra Road, Olakadu, 76 Badagubettu. Apparently, his wife Sunanda Manikya Patil (30) had to give lunch to thier children who are studying in Mukundakripa School and hence had left home at around 12.15 pm on Thursday, September 12.
However, when she returned back home at 1 pm in the afternoon, she could not open the lock of the house and on closer look found that the lock was broken and someone had entered the house.
On entering the house she realised that the Rs 22 lakh in cash kept in various boxes in the kitchen as well as half kg silver worth Rs 30,000 had gone missing.
In the complaint to the Udupi city police, it is accused that the theft was committed by Atul Bagne, a resident of Sangli and relative of Sunanda’s husband and his accomplice.
