Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party State President, Former CM, B S Yeddyurappa hosted lunch for 33 Dalit families at his residence here on Monday.
The lunch for the families was Yeddyurappa’s way of showing gratitude for hosting him during a statewide tour in the month of May. “When I visited your homes earlier this year, I was able to see your lives from close quarters. You were gracious hosts despite living in poverty,’’ he said.
Yeddyurappa told mediapersons that “the most memorable day” in his life, and thanked the Dalit families for accepting his invitation and visiting his house.
When the guests arrived, BSY’s daughter Padmavathi took charge of the kitchen. His sons, Raghavendra and Vijayendra, supervised other arrangements.
On Monday after laying out the vegetarian spread, Yeddyurappa said he had decided to ignore all the criticism and focus on the uplift of Dalits. “Those who want to criticise me can keep criticising me. I will continue to visit Dalit houses,” said Yeddyurappa.
