Bengaluru: An year-old video of chief minister B S Yediyurappa announcing Covid-19 restrictions for 1 week is going viral on social media, thus creating panic among citizens.

In the video clip with the logo of a private news channel CM Yediyurappa is heard announcing at a press meet that for a period of one-week, malls, cinema theatres, pubs and nightclubs, exhibitions, summer camps, swimming pools, sports events, marriage, conferences, parties will be banned throughout the state.

The viral video also shows the then state health minister B Sriramulu being a part of the conference. The fact that Sriramulu is no longer the state health minister is proof that the video was recorded last year.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday, March 17 ruled out imposition of a lockdown or night curfew in the state. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister had held a review meeting with the state chief ministers over the emerging second wave of Covid-19.

Assuring that the state government is taking all measures to contain curb of the virus, Yediyurappa informed that he has sought Centre’s permission to take up vaccination in apartment complexes, old age homes and inaccessible terrains across the state.
