Mangaluru: BJP state president and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday, November 11 said that the victory in RR Nagar and Sira was expected and the administration of Modi and Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa should be further strengthened.

Addressing presspersons here Nalin said, “Congress party leaders had made baseless allegations on our party during the election campaign, they even said that we indulged in caste politics but people know the truth that is why they voted us.”

“BS Yediyurappa is giving good in the state that is why people trusted us and voted in our favor. Our CM’s COVID-19 management is also one of the reasons we won the bypolls with a huge margin,” he added.

The ruling BJP in Karnataka created a history of sorts by bagging the Sira assembly segment in Tumakuru district for the first time with party candidate C M Rajesh Gowda emerging the winner in the recent byelection.

Gowda defeated his closest Congress rival T B Jayachandra, a six-time MLA and former minister, by a margin of over 12,000 votes . Meanwhile, N Munirathana emerged winner in Rajarajeshwari (RR) Nagar constituency with a margin of over 58,000 votes against his nearest Congress rival Kusuma H.

BJP in Karnataka has also won three legislative council seats for which results were declared on Tuesday, thereby increasing its strength in the upper house to 30.

Nalin further speaking about the Bengaluru riots said that DJ Halli violence is the result of a misunderstanding between two Congress leaders.

“Akanda Srinivas Murthy is former CM Siddaramaih’s follower, while Sampath Kumar is KPCC President Shivakumar’s follower and this created the Bengaluru violence,” Nalin said.

He further alleged that the Congress party is protecting one of the main accused Sampath Raj.
