Bengaluru: A 43-year-old man was arrested by the HAL police for strangling his wife with his belt at their house at Kalappa Layout.

The accused is identified as Neelakanth, a cab driver and the deceased is his wife Nagamma (36), both natives of Raichur.

Reportedly, the couple were married for 17 years with two daughters aged eight and six.

Neelakanth used to always assault Nagamma.

Frustrated over the harassment Nagamma on March 8 said that she would divorce him. Enraged, Neelakanta pulled out a belt and strangled her to death.

On hearing the children’s shouts for help, neighbors arrived to enquire and alerted the police about the incident.
