Car-tractor collision claims five lives

Tumkuru: Five persons were killed on the spot while one sustained critical injuries after their car rammed into a tractor at Hosakere near Amruthur, Kunigal taluk, on Thursday, October 24 night.
The deceased have been identified as Kiran (24), Madhu (24), Mohan (22), Rajanna (25) and Rangaswamy (58), all residents of Kallahalli. The injured, Venkatesh who is undergoing treatment at a local hospital is said to be in a critical condition.
As per reports, the car occupants were returning home from the Adichunchanagiri Hospital and Research Centre in Nagamangala taluk where they had gone for Rangaswamy’s treatment.
The car driver Kiran collided into the tractor that was ahead of them having losing control over the vehicle. The impact of the collision was such that the bodies of the victims had to be pulled out from the mangled remains of the car using an excavator.
Amruthuru police reached the spot and have registered a case in this regard.
