Bengaluru: Two chain snatchers in a bike targeted a police inspector’s wife and attacked her on Monday morning. The attackers snatched away a gold chain weighing 70 grams from her near her house at HMT Layout.
The victim, Gangamma, is the wife of an inspector Kenche Gowda. Gangamma had gone outside her house to dump garbage at around 7 am in the morning. The incident took place when she was returning back from dumping the garbage. The inspector was inside the house and heard her screams and ran out of the house and chased the chain snatchers but failed to catch them.
The incident was recorded in a CCTV camera which is installed at the inspector’s residence. The bike with two men coming near the house was captured in the footage. The bike approached Gangamma and the pillion rider got down from the bike and pulled Gangamma’s chain. When Gangamma started screaming he stopped his attempt and dragged her for a distance and managed to pull out the chain and fled the spot.
The inspector immediately filed a complaint at the Peenya police station and the CCTV footage was submitted. The police are investigating the case.
A similar incident took place on Monday in Bagalagunte Police station limits. The same gang snatched a 55 gram gold chain from a lady.
The victim is Syadhamani, a house wife, residing at Brindavana Layout in Bagalagunte. In the morning at 7 am she was drawing rangoli in front of her house when two men snatched her chain and fled the spot. The police are suspecting an infamous Irani gang behind these incidents.
