Hubballi: Police questioned the two accused in the barbaric murder of Chandrashekhar Guruji of ‘Saral Vastu’ for the entire night of Tuesday. The exact motive behind the gruesome murder is being ascertained.
Police commissioner Labhu Ram himself was involved in questioning the suspects, sources said.
Sources said that during the questioning the accused have given some clues to the prime motive. Both have allegedly confessed that the murder took place over a financial dispute. One of the suspects, Manjunath, claimed that Guruji had hurled casteist slurs at him. However, they remain tight-lipped to police’s other probing questions, sources added.
Meanwhile, police are continuing their efforts to find who else was involved in the murder plot. Several others in contact with the accused were also summoned for questioning, sources said.
Sources said that the panchnama report says that the assailants had stabbed Guruji 45 times.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage showing the chilling murder has gone viral. The two accused, identified as Manjunath Dummavada and Mahantesh Shirur, can be seen at the hotel disguised as devotees of Guruji pulling out a dagger, and stabbing him repeatedly. The famed Vastu expert bled to death at the hotel lobby on July 5.
For now, the mortal remains of Chandrashekhar Guruji have been kept in the mortuary of KIMS. The body will be handed over to the kin after an autopsy, scheduled for today, sources said.
