Chewing gums prohibited in Namma Metro

Bengaluru: Namma Metro has made an announcement to stop chewing gum inside Metro trains and even the stations.

The Metro also prohibits paan and gutka on its premises.

The public announcement system in the Namma Metro train called upon the passengers to stop using chewing gums inside trains and stations.

The metro official have said that “The housekeeping staff have come across instances where the chewed gums were pasted on the seats, under the seats or on doors and some on the hand grips inside the trains. Hence we have decided to forbidden the chewing gum and paan, gutka in the Metro.” Passengers caught chewing gum will be fined similarly to people chewing paan on the premises.

“We are yet to penalise anyone for it. The fine levied on those dirtying the stations after consuming paan is `200. The same could be levied in the case of those chewing gum.” official added.

The metro has already banned eatables in the train and stations premises for maintaining cleanliness.
