Chikkamagaluru: A police Head Constable who was supposed to take office as an Assistant Sub Inspector on December 3 died in a road accident on the night of December 2 at Hiregauja in the taluk here.
The deceased Head Constable has been identified as Siddaramappa (48) a resident of Chikkamagaluru town.
Siddaramappa, who was on duty at Sakharayapatna police station, died on the spot when his bike hit a car while on his way home from Sakharayapatna.
A native of Thammathalli in Ajjampura taluk, Siddaramappa even had his new ASI uniform ready to be worn on Thursday.
